OverviewGraduate Electrical Engineer - Power role at HDR.About The RoleAs a Graduate Electrical Power Engineer, you will be part of HDR’s Power Sector team, working with high-profile clients on ground breaking power infrastructure projects ranging from HV substations for data centres and commercial developments to transmission upgrades and large-scale renewable power projects. You will contribute to transforming power infrastructure to help shape a low carbon future while gaining hands-on experience across the project lifecycle under the guidance of experienced engineers.This is a growth-focused role designed for early-career professionals who are keen to learn, contribute, and build a rewarding engineering career.About YouWe are looking for a personable self-starter with a positive, professional attitude who can collaborate across disciplines and establish good working relationships within the team.What We OfferMentorship from experienced senior engineers and associates.Opportunity to work across multiple sectors and business groups.Exposure to landmark UK and international projects.A structured career development programme.Clear career progression pathways and professional development support.A collaborative, flexible, and supportive team environment.ResponsibilitiesAssist Senior Engineers with detailed design tasks and drawing production.Support the design and engineering of high-voltage substations and power delivery projects from concept through to detailed design.Assist in preparing technical documentation including reports, specifications, drawings, and calculations.Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including civil, structural, and protection engineers to integrate solutions.Participate in design reviews, quality checks, and client meetings with the support of senior staff.Help interpret and apply relevant design codes, standards, and client specifications (e.g. IEC, IEEE, ANSI).Engage in internal learning opportunities to develop technical expertise and progress toward chartership.Promote safe design practices and support compliance with CDM regulations and ISO quality standards.Be personable and maintain a proactive positive attitude; establish rapport with clients and project teams.Work as part of a team to collaborate with colleagues and clients.Required QualificationsHold a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power Systems, or related field.Be working toward or interested in obtaining Chartered status.Have a basic understanding of electrical systems design, including one-line diagrams, cable sizing, earthing, and protection schemes.Familiarity with industry standards (IEC, IEEE, ANSI) and design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, ETAP, DigSILENT or similar) is a plus.Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).What We BelieveHDR is our company.
