Job Opportunity: Graduate Electrical Engineer

This is an opportunity for a Graduate Electrical Engineer with a leading international multi-disciplinary design consultancy based in Central London. Recognized as one of the UK’s Top Employers for five consecutive years by the Top Employer Institute, the firm’s multidisciplinary team includes MEP (30 strong), Environmental Design & Sustainability, VT, and Architectural Design Lighting. The role may involve travel due to involvement in high-profile, prestigious projects worldwide across various sectors.

Responsibilities:

  1. Understand the design project.
  2. Assist in preparing and developing calculations, analysis, drawings, diagrams, models, and other documents under the guidance of a project leader.
  3. Support the coordination of the internal design team as required.
  4. Take responsibility for specific areas of the design and project development, as delegated by the project leader.
  5. Liaise with external design team members and associated organizations or companies where appropriate.
  6. Record and seek evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) in accordance with professional institution requirements.
  7. Contribute or assist as needed by the Project Leader, Senior Partner, or nominated Engineer.
  8. Manage project document control and filing as required.
  9. Support and embed equity, diversity & inclusion (EDI) as a core priority across all workstreams.
  10. Ensure thorough knowledge of and compliance with procedures and standards.

Qualities and Skills:

Essential:

  1. Ability to undertake the above responsibilities effectively.
  2. Legal eligibility to work in the country of employment.
  3. Relevant university qualifications and technical engineering skills.
  4. Ability to understand, formulate, and present design decisions.
  5. Proficiency in using various media for design development and documentation.
  6. Advanced skills in Microsoft Office for calculations, reports, and presentations.
  7. Knowledge of IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) and CIBSE guidelines relevant to the role.
  8. Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  9. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information responsibly.
  10. Self-motivated, responsible, proactive, and able to work independently and in teams.
  11. Good interpersonal skills and resilience under conflicting demands and pressure.
  12. Understanding of project information coordination and financial management aspects.
  13. Proficiency with tools such as Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, MicroStation, Dialux, AGI, Amtech/Trimble software, InDesign, and MS Office Suite.

Desirable:

  1. Understanding of engineer’s role in project coordination and management.
  2. Knowledge of financial aspects of project delivery.
  3. Experience with the listed design software tools.
