Job Title: Graduate Structural Engineer

Location: York, UK

Salary: £26,000 – £30,000 per annum (dependent on experience and qualifications)


About the Company:

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Graduate Structural Engineer to join a growing team in York. This role is ideally suited to a graduate with a good understanding of structural engineering principles and some prior exposure to the workplace, whether through a placement, internship, or relevant work experience.


About the Role:

The position offers involvement in a wide range of projects across residential, commercial, education, leisure, and industrial sectors. The successful candidate will benefit from structured training, mentoring, and support towards achieving Chartered Engineer status.


Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the structural design and analysis of buildings and infrastructure projects.
  • Support project delivery from feasibility and outline design through to construction and handover.
  • Undertake structural assessments, inspections, and surveys.
  • Develop 3D models and drawings using BIM software (e.g., Revit).
  • Prepare design calculations, reports, and documentation in line with Eurocodes and UK standards.
  • Work closely with engineers, surveyors, and project managers within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (BEng/MEng or equivalent).
  • A solid understanding of structural engineering principles.
  • Some prior workplace exposure (e.g., placement, internship, or relevant work experience).
  • Familiarity with, or willingness to learn, design and modelling software such as Revit.
  • Understanding of UK design standards and Eurocodes.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
  • Motivation to progress towards Chartered Engineer status through an approved training scheme.
