Your background may be in hydrology, geography, civil engineering, Town & Country planning, or a related subject. This is a senior role with a diverse and challenging workload. You will provide technical and mentoring support to the Development Control team and to other parts of the FCRM team. You will develop partnerships within the council and with external parties to protect against present and future flood risk. The Development Control team provides a statutory function advising on surface water risk on planning applications, handling nearly 2000 planning applications per year. The team also approves Watercourse consents, advises on highways and Section 38 schemes, develops policy and advisory notes, and influences working practices. Flooding remains a crucial challenge as climate change progresses.
