Hardware Engineer (FPGA)

New Today

Developing technology to save soldiers’ lives
London; c£70,000 - c£110,000 DoE + Benefits
Warfare is changing fast; we see it in the news from Ukraine and the Middle East. Modern tactics and training help prepare a solder for these new realities, but the basic equipment has not evolved so fast. This company is changing this by developing cutting-edge updates to the equipment all soldiers carry. Better performance, lighter weight and more widely available. That’s the promise of their approach.
They aim to achieve these goals by enhancing off-the-shelf hardware and tailor it to the specific needs of the military. Recent projects have required computational hardware acceleration in the form of FPGAs, and it is here that your knowledge and skills come in. They are seeking a talented engineer with proven experience designing and developing FPGAs across the full lifecycle from simulation to bench testing and production.
Requirements:
* Strong skills with Verilog or VHDL and with FPGA toolchains (e.g. Vivado, Quartus, etc)
* Background in hardware acceleration on FPGAs, ideally for AI/ML workloads
* Practical experience with the full development lifecycle for FPGA-based systems including simulation tools, building testbenches and debugging in hardware and software
* Strong personal management and communication skills
Located in central London close to local and national travel links this office-based work environment is collaborative and fast moving. You will be working closely with experts in embedded software and machine learning and will be the companies' first hardware engineer. Hybrid working is available, particularly if you are located outside London, although fully office-based is preferable.
