Responsibilities

  • As a Senior Design Highways Engineer, you’ll deliver technical excellence, innovation, and safety across a wide range of transportation projects.
  • Take ownership of key design deliverables, identify opportunities for automation and process efficiencies, and escalate scope changes to maintain programme and budget integrity.
  • Collaborate with discipline leads and project stakeholders to produce high-quality outcomes, and mentor less experienced team members to build capability and foster continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to major projects with clients such as National Highways, Transport Scotland, the Welsh Government, and international partners, with local delivery across the UK.

Qualifications

  • Design experience in the built environment and transportation.
  • Relevant professional qualification (e.g., degree in engineering) and CEng/IEng or equivalent qualifications or work experience.
  • Technical experience delivering local and/or major highways projects or land-side elements in adjacent markets (e.g., Water or Aviation).
  • Good interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills (written and verbal); ability to present design options to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Thorough understanding of commonly used design standards such as DMRB, MCHW, or international equivalents.
  • Knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and a passion for safety and wellbeing.
  • Ability to manage a workload subject to change at short notice and raise early warnings.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively within a global multi-disciplinary team.
