HPC Infrastructure EngineerApplication Deadline: 29 September 2025Department: ITEmployment Type: Permanent - Full TimeLocation: SilverstoneDescriptionWe are looking for a HPC Infrastructure Engineer to join our fantastic IT Department based at our campus in Silverstone.This position will play a key role in delivery cutting-edge Linux based compute solutions by collaborating within engineering users to deliver high performance - fit for purpose solutions which are sustainable and aligned with modern GiTops approaches.Key ResponsibilitiesManage Linux-based HPC clusters with rapid automated provisioning and highly available architecturesDesign and optimise InfiniBand and Omni-Path fabrics for ultra-low latency performance.Oversee HPC parallel file systems and petabyte-scale data handlingMonitor, alert and tune systems using Zabbix and GrafanaChampion the use of Linux-based solutions across the organisationAdminister and optimise Linux systems throughout the TeamSupport colleagues in delivering non-Linux based solutionsProduce clear and comprehensive documentation for proposed and implemented changes.Skills, Knowledge and ExpertiseExcellent working knowledge of RedHat and at least one other distribution (certification desirable)Strong expertise in Linux networking, security best practices, and day-to-day management including automation, patching and housekeepingProven track record in managing HPC parallel file systems and fabric technologiesProficiency in scripting and automation (Bash, Python)Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Ansible, Terraform)Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical colleaguesExperience fine-tuning distributed parallel processing systems with strong performance awarenessSignificant experience with container orchestration, particularly KubernetesKnowledge of HPC job schedulers (preferably SLURM)Understanding of GPU workloads within HPC environmentsBenefitsInvesting in your career is paramount.
