Here at Blueprint Recruitment, we have an exciting opportunity for a skilled HV Design Engineer to join a well-established engineering and professional services firm, on a contract basis. The successful candidate will be required to work on a hybrid basis from a regional client office, 1-2 days a week. Within this role you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of large-scale electrical projects, as a part of a highly skilled team.\n\n-Competitive day rate of £600-£750 (depending on experience)\n\n-Hybrid working arrangements.\n\nResponsibilities:\n\n-Produce concise designs for power distribution and transmission cable systems, making note of cables, connectors, and the installation methods involved.\n\n-Use software tools such as AutoCAD and CableCAD to create the designs, specifications, and documentation for the project.\n\n-Conduct technical tests and analysis to ensure that cable systems are mechanically and electrically sound.\n\n-Attend site visits to gather information to assess the integrity and efficiency of the cable system designs.\n\n-Ensure all designs follow safety policies and regulations, industry standards, and environmental principles.\n\n-Work alongside multidisciplinary teams (project managers, construction teams, and stakeholders) to ensure a smooth transition of designs and drafts to project plans.\n\nRequirements:\n\n-Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or a related field, with a focus on Electrical and/or Power Engineering.\n\n-At, or working towards, a chartered status.\n\n-Prior experience in designing and testing HV cables for HVAC and HVDC projects, both on and offshore, including cable system design and rating using CYMCAP.\n\n-Solid grasp of IEC cable principles and CIGRE policies, the technical specifications and documentation, with the ability to efficiently execute the role as a cable professional.\n\n-Past experience of observing procedures, testing, installation and transport, from a third-party source
