HVAC Commissioning Engineer
Location: South of England (ideally London/South London)
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 per annum (DOE)

About the Role

We're working with a well-established environmental services provider to recruit an experienced HVAC Commissioning Engineer. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone based in the London or South London area, particularly those with a background in HVAC commissioning within the water treatment or water hygiene sector.

You'll play a key role in ensuring HVAC systems are installed, commissioned, and optimised to the highest standards across commercial, industrial, and residential sites. Key Responsibilities

  • Commission, test, and balance HVAC systems in line with project specifications and industry standards
  • Carry out initial system checks, diagnostics, and fault resolution
  • Set up and adjust systems for maximum performance and efficiency
  • Perform air and water balancing (including dampers, valves, AHUs)
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors during installation and commissioning
  • Provide on-site technical support to clients and colleagues
  • Ensure compliance with relevant health & safety legislation, codes, and regulations
  • Produce detailed commissioning documentation, including test results and system settings
  • Identify performance improvements and recommend energy-saving measures

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Proven experience as an HVAC Commissioning Engineer
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems including chilled water, heating, ventilation, ASHP, and CHP
  • Competent in using commissioning tools and BMS platforms (e.g. Trend)
  • Relevant qualifications such as CSA Grade, NVQ Level 3 in HVAC, City & Guilds, or equivalent
  • Solid understanding of UK industry standards (BSRIA, CIBSE, HVCA)
  • Health & safety conscious, with the ability to follow safe working practices
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage on-site commissioning
  • Willingness to mentor junior engineers and support training initiatives

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in integrating HVAC systems with Building Management Systems (BMS)
  • Knowledge of all areas of HVAC and water hygiene commissioning
  • Familiarity with environmental compliance in HVAC-related systems
