Overview

We are seeking a HVAC Commissioning Engineer to work for our client on customers’ sites, predominantly in and around London. The employer’s base is in Thetford, Norfolk; this is a site-based role, offered on a full-time permanent basis. Salary is negotiable depending on relevant skills and experience. A company vehicle, mobile phone, and laptop will be provided, in addition to a credit card for work expenses.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to construction sites to commission HVAC products; sites predominantly in London.
  • Plan own time and routes; choose company van or public transport.
  • Commissioning durations range from two days to three weeks; decide travel and overnight stays accordingly.
  • Work as part of a five-engineer team; typically attend jobs on your own; report to the Site Services Manager.
  • Commission mechanical and electrical systems; use a laptop to configure/program.
  • Commission products including hard wired electrical control panels, addressable programmable control panels, fire and smoke dampers, fan coil units and VAV; training provided.
  • Meet with customers and work with them to ensure commissioning is safe and organized; access is provided by customer.
  • Sites mainly UK with London focus; occasional overseas travel; overtime paid.
  • Occasional maintenance work involving servicing products in buildings such as factories, hospitals, schools, etc.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience as electrically biased engineer, commissioning engineer or commercial electrician.
  • A full UK driving licence with no convictions and no more than 6 points.
  • A CSCS card or willingness to obtain one (employer pays).
  • Currently lives within London, Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire or Hertfordshire and is comfortable with UK-wide travel and regular travel into London.
  • Calm, adaptable and self-sufficient; can manage own time and travel.
  • Excellent client-facing skills; personable, polite, professional and clear communicator.
  • Enjoys working independently; handles unexpected issues with a logical problem-solving approach.
