About the Role
We are seeking an Installation Assemblies Engineer to join the team on a 12-month contract, outside IR35. This is a hybrid position with 2 days per week in the Derby office and the remainder flexible.
This role is responsible for the design and delivery of the Small Modular Reactor (SMR) Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) modules and installation assemblies within the Reactor Island design and the wider power station. You will work within a core team focused on installation assemblies and take ownership of a defined cluster of modules within a critical area of the Reactor Island design.
Getting the layout, modularisation, and installation design right is essential to achieving the overall business objectives, and this role plays a pivotal part in delivering that success.
Key Responsibilities

Progress the design of a defined cluster of MEP modules through the design review process.
*
Engage proactively with stakeholders to capture design requirements, assumptions, and constraints.
*
Develop a full understanding of the technical requirements and lifecycle of assigned modules, including manufacturing, installation, and commissioning methods.
*
Identify and assess risks related to Reactor Island installations and make informed decisions based on programme risk considerations.
*
Work collaboratively with installation component engineers, layout engineers, and CAD engineers to develop module clusters that meet all system, component, and cross-functional requirements.

Ensure that quality standards are maintained throughout the SMR project lifecycle by conducting technical reviews and contributing to key technical review gates.

Support the development of product configuration and data management processes.
*
Ensure all work is delivered in compliance with corporate, business, and legislative Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements.
Key Skills & Experience
*
Strong experience in the design and delivery of MEP systems or complex mechanical/electrical installation projects.
*
Background in modularisation, layout development, and installation design within large engineering or energy infrastructure projects.
*
Understanding of the full lifecycle of engineered modules, from concept through manufacturing, installation, and commissioning.
*
Ability to work effectively with multi-disciplinary engineering teams and interface with multiple stakeholders.
*
Experience working in highly regulated industries such as nuclear, power , or large-scale infrastructure (desirable)
