. Our Embedded Systems Solutions department (ESS) encompasses all activities outlined under the Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) process framework, including systems engineering, software engineering, coding, and all levels of functional testing. Beyond core development, ESS also integrates critical supporting processes such as project management, risk assessment, functional safety, and cybersecurity, ensuring compliance with ASPICE standards and delivering reliable, secure, and high-quality embedded systems & solutions. The Role: We are seeking a technically skilled and delivery-focused
PHEV Integration Engineer
to lead the integration of propulsion systems for
Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) . This role is central to ensuring seamless coordination between internal combustion engine (ICE), electric drive units, battery systems, and vehicle supervisory controls. You will work across software, calibration, hardware, and vehicle domains to validate system-level functionality, resolve integration issues, and support program milestones from concept through production. Onsite collaboration with OEM teams is highly preferred. Area of Responsibility System Integration & Validation Lead integration of PHEV propulsion components including ICE, e-motors, battery packs, and power electronics Ensure seamless operation of torque blending, regenerative braking, energy management, and drive mode transitions Support vehicle-level testing, fault diagnosis, and calibration refinement across development phases Collaborate with software and calibration teams to validate feature performance and resolve integration issues Issue Resolution & Debugging Conduct root cause analysis of system-level faults and interface mismatches Use tools such as CANalyzer, INCA, CANape, and ETAS to log data, flash software, and debug control behavior Coordinate with suppliers and OEM stakeholders to triage and resolve integration challenges Requirements & Documentation Author and manage system-level integration requirements and interface specifications Ensure traceability between functional requirements, software implementation, and validation results Support ASPICE and ISO 26262 compliance through structured documentation and review processes Cross-Functional Collaboration Interface with propulsion software, calibration, vehicle dynamics, and electrical architecture teams Participate in technical reviews, gateway assessments, and program delivery meetings Provide integration status updates and risk assessments to program leadership Key Experience Bachelors or Masters degree in Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field Strong experience in hybrid or electrified propulsion system integration Strong understanding of PHEV architectures, energy flow, and control strategies Proficiency in vehicle communication protocols (CAN, LIN, FlexRay) and diagnostic tools Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, embedded C, and calibration workflows Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills Preferred Qualifications Experience working on propulsion programs or with Tier-1 suppliers such as Bosch Familiarity with Vehicle Supervisory Controller (VSC) architecture and hybrid mode logic Exposure to functional safety standards (ISO 26262) and ASPICE development processes Hands-on experience with HIL/SIL platforms and automated test environments Valid UK driving license and willingness to support onsite vehicle testing In return for bringing your expertise to our business we offer a competitive salary along with excellent benefits including: Pension Scheme
