Mechanical Design Engineer – Building Services & Decarbonisation

I’m working with a growing M&E and Sustainability consultancy who are delivering multi-million-pound building services and decarbonisation projects across residential, industrial, and commercial sectors. The company has built a strong reputation in sustainable engineering and low-carbon design, offering engineers the chance to work on projects that make a real impact.

As part of their expansion, they’re looking to appoint an Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer to take ownership of building services design from feasibility to detailed delivery. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a highly-skilled design and energy team and contribute to projects from new builds and refurbishments to heat decarbonisation schemes.

Key Responsibilities – Mechanical Design Engineer:

* Deliver mechanical building services designs across HVAC, low-carbon heating and hot & cold water services

* Integrate low/zero carbon technologies (heat pumps, district heating, and renewable energy solutions)

* Produce drawings, schematics, and calculations using AutoCAD and industry-standard software

* Develop technical specifications, equipment schedules, and performance specifications

* Collaborate closely with the in-house Energy Consultancy team to support decarbonisation and net zero projects

* Contribute to multi-million-pound projects including schools, hospitals, leisure centres, and commercial developments

Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical building services design with experience in HVAC, heating, cooling, and ventilation systems. Candidates should be confident working independently and as part of a design team. Experience in stakeholder or client-facing roles is a bonus, as the role involves close collaboration across engineering and energy consultancy teams.

Package:

* Salary £35,000–£60,000 DOE
