This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for an Intermediate Site Reliability Engineer, Database Operations in EMEA.

In this role, you’ll join a global engineering team focused on ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of large-scale PostgreSQL database systems supporting a major SaaS platform. You will collaborate with engineers across disciplines to build resilient and automated infrastructure, optimize database performance, and proactively anticipate growth needs. This is an opportunity to work on one of the largest single-tenant open-source SaaS environments, solving complex operational challenges through innovation, automation, and collaboration in a fully remote setup.

Accountabilities

• Ensure the reliability, performance, and scalability of PostgreSQL databases within a high-growth SaaS environment.
• Automate operational tasks, from package updates to provisioning and configuration management, minimizing manual intervention.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve production database issues while maintaining robust observability and alerting systems.
• Plan and execute database growth, capacity management, and service rollouts.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to review migrations, queries, and schema changes for performance and efficiency.
• Build and maintain core database infrastructure components and self-service tools that improve developer autonomy.
• Participate in on-call rotations and incident response, ensuring systems meet high availability and performance standards.
• Continuously document processes and actions to drive repeatability and further automation.

Requirements

• Proven experience managing PostgreSQL in large-scale production environments (self-managed and cloud-based).
• Strong background in infrastructure automation and configuration management (Chef, Ansible, Puppet, Terraform).
• Excellent knowledge of SQL and PL/pgSQL, and solid understanding of database internals.
• Experience working in SaaS or distributed systems environments with a focus on reliability and scalability.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset with the ability to anticipate and prevent issues.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective remote collaboration.
• A proactive attitude and a drive for continuous improvement through automation and documentation.
• Bonus skills: experience in Ruby, Go, ClickHouse, or other modern OLAP systems.
