About Us

Droplet Scientific is a fast-growing biotech startup developing next-generation sensors and analysers for continuous biomarker monitoring, enabling doctors and researchers to gain real-time insights into patient health. We are working with leading clinicians and researchers worldwide, backed by strong commercial tractions and partnerships.

The Role

We’re looking for a hands-on Junior Engineer to join our ambitious, tight-knit team of scientists and engineers. This role is ideal for someone who loves building, tinkering, testing, and prototyping. You’ll be at the heart of producing and assembling prototypes, supporting experiments, and helping take our monitoring devices from bench-top rigs to scalable products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prototype Assembly & Testing: Build and assemble microfluidic and electronic prototypes. Test their performance in lab setups and document results.
  • Production Support: Contribute to the production and improvement of test rigs, devices, and supporting systems.
  • Design & CAD: Use SolidWorks (or equivalent CAD) to produce designs for components, jigs, and fixtures. Review and iterate on past designs.
  • Proof-of-Concept Builds: Work with the team to create quick prototypes to test new ideas.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and suggest ways to improve reliability, robustness, and efficiency in our build and testing processes.
  • Lab Support: Help maintain lab equipment, inventory, and day-to-day workshop operations.

Requirements

  • Educational Background: Mechanical, Biomedical, or General Engineering degree (or equivalent).
  • Hands-On Skills: Strong practical experience – from lab work, personal projects, internships, or prior roles – and a comfort with tools, hardware, and physical builds.
  • CAD Skills: Proficient in SolidWorks (or similar), with ability to produce and adapt designs.
  • Problem-Solving Mindset: Comfortable troubleshooting and iterating on prototypes in a fast-paced R&D environment.
  • Team Player: Open to working closely with scientists and engineers across disciplines.

(Experience with microfluidics, medical devices, or electronics is a bonus but not required.)

Benefits

  • Unique Opportunity: Apply both practical skills and engineering fundamentals in a cutting-edge biotech environment.
  • Impact: Your work will directly influence our prototypes, experiments, and future product launches.
  • Growth: Join as an early engineering hire, gaining responsibility quickly with opportunities to shape production and design processes.
  • Mission-Driven Team: Be part of a company aiming to transform hospital monitoring and save lives.
