The Anglian Water Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) project involves planning, design and construction of approximately 320 km of new strategic, large diameter, clean water interconnector pipelines and associated infrastructure across Anglian Water’s region. The SPA Alliance is also responsible for a further 260 km of future interconnector pipelines and infrastructure.

As a Lead Civil Engineer for SPA, you will provide technical direction to engineers in your discipline for clean water infrastructure (Infra) and non-infrastructure (Non-Infra) projects. You will support design for multiple schemes, ensuring all designs are fit for purpose and meet current legislation and standards. You will review civil deliverables produced by other civil engineers within SPA and/or our supply chain to ensure correct processes and procedures are followed.

You will collaborate with key stakeholders and assist multidisciplinary project design teams to ensure selected solutions provide best value, are fit for purpose, and are completed on time, to budget, and to the required quality. You will also engage with stakeholders across the business and externally to drive continuous engineering, design and innovation improvements. This role is hybrid with regular attendance at the Peterborough office encouraged (2 days a week if local, or 3–4 days in a row each month if based further away).

Responsibilities

  • Regularly report to and liaise with the Discipline Lead
  • Collaborate with the Discipline Lead and Design Managers to achieve project milestones and design review dates
  • Ensure designs comply with water industry standards and regulations
  • Ensure designs comply with Anglian Water standards
  • Maintain portfolio awareness in technical areas and disseminate appropriately
  • Actively seek innovative technology and processes
  • Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary project team
  • Set technical common standards and processes across Alliance project areas
  • Adopt new digital technologies to support fully attributed 3D models
  • Support the team to reduce carbon and increase natural capital within designs
  • Mentor and coach team members

Qualifications

  • Degree in civil engineering or demonstrate equivalent knowledge through experience
  • Chartered status or equivalent
  • Competence in practical civil design within the water industry
  • Experience mentoring and coaching less experienced engineers
