Strong experience of leading teams and departments in the design, implementation, administration and support of container‑related infrastructure solutions and services. Significant demonstrable expertise in container build and runtime environments, Kubernetes administration and associated technologies e.g. Flux, Argo CD, Helm. Demonstrated experience in implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Gitlab or equivalent. Strong track record of writing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code. Expert detailed working knowledge of developing and supporting cloud‑based applications (Cloud Infrastructure Engineering).
You and your role As a Lead Cloud Infrastructure Engineer at DWP Digital, your day will revolve around designing, building and running the cloud platforms that support some of the UK's most critical public services. You’ll be working hands on with container platforms, infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines and cloud‑native services, making sure our systems are secure, scalable and reliable. You’ll spend time collaborating with other technical teams, helping application developers get the most out of our shared cloud infrastructure. You’ll be deep into Kubernetes, managing clusters and automating deployments with tools like Helm, Flux and ArgoCD. You’ll also be embedding security into everything you build, thinking ahead to mitigate risks before they become issues. Part of your role will involve supporting live services, investigating and resolving issues and making sure our platforms stay healthy and performant. You’ll lead by example, mentoring junior engineers and helping shape the technical direction of the team. Details. Wages. Perks. Pension You’ll get a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions worth 28.97%, worth over £20,000 per year. Holidays A generous leave package starting at 26 days rising to 31 days over time. You can also take up to 3 extra days off a month on flexi‑time. You’ll also get all the usual public holidays.
