Job summary
As the controls and automation engineering lead at Plantd you will work with leadership to implement, and maintain control systems to support the integration of automation equipment into production lines. This role focuses on implementing automation, data collection, and controls systems on production machines. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to maximize machine up time, product yield, and quality standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead the design, development, and validation of controls systems for factory automation
Mentor and guide a team of controls/automation engineers, conducting code reviews, fostering best practices, and ensuring scalability of control algorithms
Collaborate with design, build, and manufacturing engineering teams to integrate controls subsystems into the full factory architecture
Perform risk assessments, failure mode analysis, and iterative testing to meet production reliability standards
Drive innovation in autonomous control strategies, incorporating AI/ML for adaptive processing if applicable
Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables for controls and automation milestones, reporting to executives and engineering leads
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Personally invested in long term mission to move fast and fix how we work with carbon
Thinks fast and adapts to changing conditions
Bachelor's degree in engineering, or scientific discipline OR 3+ years of professional experience building structural or electromechanical systems
Relevant experience in end to end product development
