Lead Data Engineer - Oracle EPM within the Enablers Portfolio, part of DDaT, delivering data products to support business intelligence, reporting, and data science across the Home Office. The portfolio collaborates with Data Acquisition, Analytics, and Infrastructure teams to ensure high-quality, resilient data services.

Salary: £64,300 plus capability and skills allowance up to £20,100

Location: Croydon (hybrid 60% office attendance)

What you will do

  • Managing and integrating data sources across Oracle EPM and connected systems (e.g., ERP, HCM, FDI, data warehouses) to improve data quality, consistency, and readiness for planning, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Designing and developing EPM-specific data models and ETL/ELT processes, mapping and transforming data into structures that support Oracle EPM modules such as Planning, FCCS, and PCMCS, in collaboration with Analytics and Finance teams.
  • Engaging with key stakeholders across Finance, IT, and business units to understand performance management needs, manage expectations, communicate progress, and foster a service-oriented approach to data delivery and support.
  • Overseeing the performance of third-party vendors and internal data teams, enhancing delivery capability, and creating a roadmap balancing immediate EPM reporting needs with long-term data platform investments.
  • Optimising data lifecycle processes including data availability, capacity planning, and archiving strategies, while continuously improving the efficiency and reliability of data ingestion into Oracle EPM.
  • Line managing and mentoring team members, supporting professional development and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence within the Oracle EPM data engineering function.
  • Delivering Oracle EPM projects with at least 5 full project lifecycle deliveries.
  • Demonstrating project experience in EPM products such as EPBCS, EDM, NR, FCCS, PCMCS, ARCS and Predictive cash forecasting.
  • Leading and influencing finance teams by leveraging deep knowledge of planning and financial processes, identifying pain points, and driving continuous improvement through practical, strategic solutions.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, presenting complex data engineering concepts and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical audiences, including senior finance and IT stakeholders.
  • Leading the adoption of cloud-based data technologies and strategies within Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Azure/AWS, including services like Autonomous Data Warehouse, Oracle Data Integration, EPM Automate; proficient in REST API and coding in MDX, Calc Script and Groovy.
  • Managing complex multi-supplier and support environments, coordinating service integration and accountability across internal teams and external partners.
  • Aligning EPM implementations with HM Treasury guidelines, public sector accounting standards, and regulatory compliance requirements (Managing Public Money, HMT Green Book, Cabinet Office spend controls, and departmental data governance policies).
