Inside About the Role Are you ready to take the lead in shaping the future of aerospace design? We're looking for two talented Lead Design Engineers to join the Airbus team in Filton. You'll play a pivotal role in delivering innovative, high-quality structural designs for major aerospace programmes, ensuring every solution meets the highest standards of airworthiness and product excellence. What You'll Be Doing Leading the structural design process, ensuring compliance with airworthiness and product requirements, and upholding Design Quality Assurance standards. Defining, delivering, and enabling technical studies, trade-offs, and investigations to develop robust technical solutions using established design methods and procedures. Managing and delivering change, including Mod opening, DFM release, and Stage 3 Closure of Mods-on time, to cost, and to quality. Providing design leadership to both internal and external teams, championing Lean Engineering improvements such as 'Right First Time' and lead time reduction. Organising and governing design and maturity reviews in line with Airbus policies, processes, and best practices. What We're Looking For Essential: Proven experience leading design or project teams, ideally within Airbus or a similar aerospace environment. Strong track record of delivering complex or high-value projects to time, cost, and quality targets. Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to manage risk and make informed decisions in a complex stakeholder environment. Ability to influence technical experts and stakeholders to achieve optimal technical and business outcomes. Experience maturing new technologies, implementing design-to-cost projects, and initiating strategic technology initiatives. Proficiency with design toolsets such as CATIA V5, ICC, Zamiz, ECM, Solings, and PASS. Industry-recognised design signatory delegation (Design Approval/Authorisation) is essential. Desirable: Experience with Lean Engineering and continuous improvement initiatives. Strong communication and leadership skills, with a collaborative approach. Why Join Us? Impact:
