Role Overview
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the CE&I electrical systems design on major engineering projects. This role involves the production and checking of engineering deliverables through concept, preliminary, and detailed design phases, as well as providing assistance with design queries during installation and commissioning. The role requires an experienced engineer with a strong technical background in CE&I, proven leadership in design delivery, and the ability to interface effectively across multi-disciplinary project teams.
Key Responsibilities Lead and take ownership of CE&I electrical systems design across assigned projects. Deliver and check engineering design packages, ensuring alignment with project requirements and milestones. Manage and support a small integrated design team. Produce and contribute to design documentation, including:
Project Requirement Documents Basis of Design Project Verification Plans Quality Plans Design Justification Reports Independently determine project requirements and develop appropriate design solutions. Review and check CE&I deliverables prepared by senior CE&I designers. Provide estimates for scope changes or additional works, including supporting schedules. Support and contribute to design reviews. Produce reports and documentation in line with CDM regulations. Collaborate closely with the Integrated Design Team, facility teams (including systems engineering), and other project functions across all phases.Essential Experience Leadership in design delivery teams, with specific focus on electrical systems. Knowledge of Machinery Safety and UKCA Marking. Proven experience in Process Instrumentation Design. Strong background in Electrical Power and LV Services Design. Understanding and application of required deliverables and design processes for CE&I. Experience working within structured management systems. Skilled in estimating, scheduling, and progress reporting. Strong ability to collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams.Desirable Experience Experience with Programmable Electronic Systems. Knowledge of Radiometric Instrumentation.Clearance SC clearance is required for this role. Candidates may commence work with BPSS clearance while SC is in progress.
