Overview

Senior Software Engineer to join the Accounts & Card team. The Credit Risk Platform team, part of Core Services, focuses on building and refining the technology that delivers near-instant decisions. You’ll help evolve the bespoke decision engine central to our application process and collaborate to enhance our credit strategy implementation and supporting software systems. This role offers an opportunity to impact the business while growing in an innovative, collaborative environment.

The role

• You love building new things but also enjoy working with legacy codebases in a complex problem domain implemented with simple software systems.
• You have an interest or experience in Functional Programming, microservices and/or event-driven architecture.
• You are a collaborator who encourages pairing and believes that working together is smarter than working in a silo.
• You are a teacher, generous with your time and expertise to help stakeholders and fellow engineers answer their own questions.
• You proactively problem-solve, identify and mitigate risks, issues or control weaknesses in your day-to-day work.

What we’re looking for

• Experience working with Python & Serverless
• Strong fundamental programming skills (data structures, algorithms)
• Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
• An interest (or experience) in Functional Programming, Distributed Systems or Event-Driven Architectures (using Apache Kafka)
• Knowledge of decision engines is desirable but not essential
