Dunnhumby is the global leader in Customer Data Science, empowering businesses to compete in the data-driven economy. We’re looking for a Lead Engineer to extend and improve the Software Engineering Department and work with a market-leading business to explore opportunities and influence global retailers. The role involves Data collaboration and Global Media solutions, including designing, leading and implementing a data collaboration platform that enables clients and 3rd parties to share and merge data securely. It also includes providing support for consulting and proposition teams in client meetings and client technical integrations.

What You Can Expect In The Role

• Be the technical expert about the products (Dunnhumby and 3rd party) within a team or across several teams.
• Conduct requirements analysis, balance different requirements, and make technical trade-off decisions at the application level (e.g., component design).
• Lead end-to-end projects and ensure Service Level Agreements are delivered.
• Define and develop solutions to technical problems that arise.
• Use your expertise to contribute to reengineering and design.
• Act as a subject matter expert for focus areas across the technology space.
• Actively explore the latest tools and technologies within or outside Dunnhumby.
• Learn and help implement new industry standards related to products, people and processes.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to manage project milestones, short-term and long-term planning.
• Identify dependencies, risks and bottlenecks proactively and work with the Engineering Manager to resolve them.

What We Would Expect From You

• Strong experience in cloud-native architectures and integration patterns.
• Experience working with high volumes of data and low-latency integrations.
• Experience in collaborative design and delivery of software products and platforms with knowledge across at least two areas (software, infrastructure, big data, event processing, distributed computing).
• Familiarity with at least one major cloud provider’s technology stack – Azure, GCP or AWS.
• Leadership and adoption of modern software-centric infrastructure management, including CI/CD, continuous deployment, Infrastructure as Code, Policy as Code, Configuration as Code/Data.
• Track record of implementing architectural changes in Agile development environments.
• Ability to identify key business technology issues and provide analytical skills to understand and communicate design specifications, including high-level and detailed design documentation and impact estimation.
• Problem solving and troubleshooting skills with mature judgement.
