Responsibilities
- Lead the materials engineering efforts on product levels for assigned projects and tenders with efficiency and integrity.
- Perform contract reviews and highlight exceptions and clarifications.
- Communicate to project or tender teams that requirements and consequences are fully understood.
- Populate and use systems for requirements management, clarification registers, change tracker, risk register, etc., for the materials engineering discipline.
- Ensure performance to budget for materials engineering on assigned projects.
- Raise variations and changes in due time to PEM and PM.
- Oversee and manage client communications and interactions on the assigned project.
- Follow up on materials manufacturing and welding activities, with review of supplier documentation.
- Maintain an overview of Metallic and Non-metallic Material Selection, Corrosion and Corrosion Control, Chemical/Material Compatibility, Coatings and Insulation, and Manufacturing Methods.
Qualifications
- Hold a BSc or MSc in Materials Engineering, Chemistry, Corrosion or Welding from an accredited college or university with significant experience in Materials Engineering, ideally in offshore or subsea oil and gas.
- Experience in material selection for specific designs.
- Understanding of corrosion mechanisms and corrosion prevention.
- Understanding of material manufacturing and fabrication processes such as forming, forging, heat treatment and welding.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards (NORSOK, ISO, ASME, API, ASTM, DNV, etc.) and design/fabrication requirements for Subsea Products.
- Willingness and ability to travel as required.
This role is located at our Aberdeen Engineering Centre. Familiarity with Subsea Production Systems and Well Systems equipment is desirable but not mandatory.
