Job Description:
This role is within the Lids Department within Body Engineering reporting to the Departmental Chapter Leader with matrix reporting to the Technical Centre Leader operating as a Lead Engineer within the Tailgate and Spoiler Squad on a Single Vehicle Programme with specific responsibility for leading the development of taildoor on a new vehicle.
The role will focus on working on the squad’s priorities for the delivery of the taildoor ensuring delivery of work on time to support the programme deliverables. The role will involve managing the prioritisation of work, delivering Cost, Weight, Timing, Releasing and Test Delivery as well as identifying impediments and requesting escalation when required.
The role requires the candidate to have a working knowledge of taildoor systems, stampings, castings and extrusions as well as associated BIW Assy Systems and the interactions that exist between the cross-functional teams.
Key Performance Indicators:
- Delivery of cost and weight targets for the taildoor.
- Delivery of production and prototype parts on time for the builds on time.
- Completion of sprint actions and closure of open issues in the required time-frames.
- Delivery of PSW and parts to specification.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
- Liaising with the BIW manufacturing team.
- Lead the delivery of change management and CAD for the taildoor.
- Manage the tasks using an Agile approach and creation of JIRA tickets.
- Support sprint planning sessions, showcases and retrospectives.
- Ensure test planning, results and completion is delivered on-time.
- Support the prototype and production builds when required on-site.
- Lead cross-functional problem resolution for the taildoor and support cross-squad problem resolution.
- Lead regular programme reviews with Suppliers to ensure compliance to requirements and compatibility between components.
- Undertake any other work as directed by their Line Manager in connection with their job as may be requested from time-to-time.
- Completion of EBERs on time.
- Documenting and raising Prevent Recurrence actions to ensure lessons learned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
Essential:
Hard Skills:
- Experience of design and development of taildoor systems.
- Experience in end-to-end development of commodities within an automotive programme delivery environment through to launch.
- Engineering delivery experience or working within a squad.
- Experience of using JIRA.
- Experience of stampings, castings and extrusions.
- Ability to lead complex problem resolution.
- Ability to manipulate/visualise CAD geometry in CATIA V6 within Enovia 3DX.
- Previous experience and background automotive closures accompanied with a proven record of successful delivery.
- Capable of using RMDV test management system and DARTS.
- UK Driving licence to enable mobility between plants.
