Lead Hardware Design Engineer

£60,000 – £70,000 + excellent pension & benefits

This is an opportunity to take genuine technical ownership of complex hardware design projects within a team recognised for engineering excellence. You’ll be involved in developing advanced embedded systems used in demanding environments - projects that will challenge your problem-solving skills and broaden your technical scope.

You’ll lead one of several new product developments, acting as the technical authority and setting tasks for the team. You may have had experience leading teams before, or are a senior engineer that's keen to step up into a technical leadership role solving real engineering challenges across high-speed digital, power, and FPGA-based systems.

The role: • Full lifecycle hardware design — from concept through to production release. • Schematic capture, component selection, and PCB layout oversight. • High-speed digital design including DDR4/5, PCIe Gen4, and 25–100Gb Ethernet. • Switch-mode power supply design • Collaboration across multidisciplinary engineering teams.

About you: • Experienced hardware designer with strong digital/FPGA experience. • Confident communicator who enjoys ownership and problem-solving. • Able to see designs through production and integration. • Eligible for (or already holding) UK Security Clearance is advantageous but not essential.
