Job Description

Our Defence and Security teams provide design and engineering services for our nuclear and defence clients across the UK and abroad. Our team is experiencing exciting growth and long-term prospects within our established practice, and we are looking for Mechanical/HVAC engineers with transferable skills who are passionate about developing themselves and meeting new challenges. We offer hybrid working with 1-2 days in the office. Occasional site visits may be necessary.

About the opportunity:

We are recruiting and developing career-minded individuals to strengthen our established and growing multi-discipline engineering team to meet opportunities in the nuclear and defence industries. Our projects involve developing solutions through all RIBA stages in highly regulated environments, supporting air, land, and sea defence establishments, the UK nuclear submarine fleet, and both existing and new nuclear power stations.

You will preferably have experience in the nuclear and/or defence industries, but relevant industrial design experience is also valuable, especially for those looking to work in a technically challenging environment. You will be part of a large team across the UK, working within the Mechanical Engineering team based in Glasgow, Warrington, Bristol, or Reading.

• Occasional expensed business travel to client sites.

Minimum Requirements:

• Relevant Mechanical Engineering education.
• Experience with CIBSE guides.
• Proven ability in producing design deliverables such as plant sizing calculations (heating, cooling, fan sizing) and commissioning of mechanical building systems.
• Familiarity with engineering software like CAD, Hevacomp, BIM, and simulation tools.
• Ability to liaise with multiple stakeholders and coordinate with other design disciplines.
• Experience in producing tender specifications for mechanical building services.
• Eligibility to obtain SC security clearance in the UK, including the last 5 years.
