Lead Mechanical Engineer

We’re working with an ambitious engineering team developing next-generation hardware designed to operate in some of the harshest environments on Earth. This is a lead, hands-on role in a fast-moving, startup-style environment where engineers take full ownership from concept through to deployment.

You’ll play a key role in shaping the mechanical design of critical systems, leading development from early-stage concepts through to real-world testing and operational use. If you enjoy building, testing, iterating, and solving complex engineering challenges within a small, high-performing team, this is a role where you’ll thrive.

What you’ll be doing

• Leading the design and development of ruggedised, cold-hardened mechanical systems
• Taking full ownership of hardware from concept through to production and field deployment
• Developing systems capable of operating under extreme thermal and mechanical stress
• Driving materials selection, sealing strategies, and structural design for harsh environments
• Building and testing prototypes, including validation in environmental and cold chamber conditions
• Working closely with electrical, RF, software, and systems engineers in a highly collaborative team

What we’re looking for

• 7+ years’ experience developing real-world hardware
• Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
• Experience working within Aerospace or Defence industries (essential)
• Strong 3D CAD skills (Siemens NX, SolidWorks, or similar)
• Proven experience taking products from concept to production, including DFMA
• A hands-on engineer who enjoys prototyping, testing, and solving real-world engineering problems
