Role OverviewWe are seeking a Lead Planning Engineer to oversee project planning and scheduling activities for a major power project. The role will provide leadership to planning teams across multiple sites, ensuring robust project controls, accurate reporting, and alignment with project objectives.Location: Newcastle (Hybrid)Contract Type: Contractor (Outside IR35)Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain the master project schedule, covering all phases of the Project.Coordinate planning input from engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams.Ensure project plans reflect key milestones for converter stations, interconnectors, and electrical infrastructure.Monitor critical path, progress, and productivity, identifying risks and recommending corrective actions.Lead a small team of planners, providing guidance, mentoring, and quality assurance.Interface with client and stakeholders on schedule performance and reporting.Work effectively within a joint venture/consortium environment, aligning planning deliverables with partner organisations.Qualifications & ExperienceDegree in Engineering or related field (preferred).10+ years’ experience in project planning / controls within large infrastructure or power projects.Strong knowledge of Electrical system, converter stations, substations, and transmission & distribution systems.Experience working on projects delivered by joint ventures or consortia.Proficient in Primavera P6/Power BIExcellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
