We are recruiting for our motorsport and defence client based in Oxford. Our client is a dynamic engineering company operating at the forefront of high-performance technology within the motorsport and defence sectors. They are looking for an experienced Lead Quality Engineer to drive quality excellence across their advanced manufacturing operations. Responsibilities

  • Quality Systems & Process Development: Design and implement quality control systems and inspection procedures for new and existing products
  • Develop APQP methodologies including FMEAs, control plans, and process capability studies
  • Create electronic quality management systems to streamline data capture and reporting
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action implementation for non-conformances
  • Product Development & Manufacturing Support: Partner with engineering teams during new product introduction phases
  • Establish achievable process tolerances and quality specifications
  • Generate inspection programs, tooling requirements, and standard operating procedures
  • Support customer approval processes and documentation requirements
  • Team Leadership & Development: Manage and mentor a team of quality engineers
  • Conduct performance reviews and foster professional development
  • Drive continuous improvement culture through data-driven decision making
  • Coordinate workload allocation and ensure project delivery timelines
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Serve as primary liaison between quality, engineering, and production teams
  • Provide regular performance reporting to senior management
  • Support customer quality initiatives and supplier quality programs

What We're Looking For

Essential Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering or related technical field
  • Proven experience in quality engineering within manufacturing environments
  • Strong knowledge of APQP tools and quality management systems
  • Experience leading technical teams and driving process improvements within high-specification manufacturing environments
  • Understanding of demanding quality standards in motorsport, defence, or similar precision industries
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to present to all organizational levels

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in CAD software, ERP systems, and quality management platforms
  • Understanding of statistical process control and data analysis
  • Experience with manufacturing process optimization
  • Knowledge of customer quality requirements and approval processes
