The Opportunity

We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Lead Senior Structural/Bridge Engineer to join our Consulting Structures Team. This is a hybrid role and with shared office space in our Birmingham office we invite applications from across the region.

Amey Consulting has been appointed as the design partner for two regions of National Highways' 6-year Scheme Delivery Framework (SDF), the largest and most comprehensive renewals programme ever launched by the government-owned company. The Midlands Region SDF includes over 2,000 large bridges and culverts.

Since 2020 we’ve been managing three major structures (M5 Avonmouth Bridge, the M4 Prince of Wales Bridge and the M48 Severn Bridge) under a 15-year contract worth £16 million per annum, as well as awarded in 2023 the 4th generation of the Midlands Highway Alliance Plus framework.

These long-term contracts provide excellent opportunities for technical, engineering, and professional design staff at all stages of their careers to be involved in some of the most exciting and challenging engineering projects.

The role

Our Structural Engineers play an important part within the Highways and Designated Funds Design team and alongside our client, National Highways. As a Lead Senior Structural/Bridge Engineer, you will provide effective support and assistance to your Design Team Leader on a variety of highways drainage schemes whilst taking the lead on projects and mentoring junior designers.
