Lead Software Engineer- Platform (Connectivity/Networking) – Chase UK at JPMorganChase. As a Lead Software Engineer, you will work within the International Consumer Bank to deliver an outstanding banking experience in a collaborative, diverse, and geographically distributed team. You will be part of a cloud engineering-focused squad working on a cutting-edge cloud-native AWS infrastructure powering the Chase UK bank, trusted by millions of customers.

We seek curious, solution-oriented engineers with an interest in fintech and a focus on addressing customer needs. Our teams are organized into tribes and squads, with opportunities to move among squads based on strengths and interests.

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain and improve our AWS cloud infrastructure to ensure 24/7 operation with a focus on stability, performance, security and compliance
  • Maintain and improve stability, security and performance of connectivity for customers, including inter-AWS accounts and connections between Chase and third parties
  • Design and implement automation scripts and tooling using Bash, Python, Go, or other appropriate languages
  • Build and maintain a cloud platform for application developers and support SDLC and developer experience
  • Collaborate with vendors and other business areas to plan improvements and coordinate projects
  • Participate in on-call rotation

Required Skills

  • Experience managing public cloud infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code technologies (Terraform with AWS)
  • Strong knowledge and operating experience in at least one CDN provider (e.g., Akamai or Cloudflare)
  • Familiarity with network monitoring and diagnostic tools
  • Ability to optimize network performance through analysis and improvement of connectivity patterns
  • Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, ICMP, VPN)
  • Experience configuring and managing reverse proxies (e.g., Traefik, NGINX, HAProxy)
  • Good knowledge of Kubernetes clusters’ operations (we use EKS)
  • Proficiency in a modern programming language (Java, Python, Go)
  • Excellent understanding of DevOps principles and SDLC best practices
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

Nice To Have

  • Familiarity with software engineering security best practices in a cloud environment
  • Experience developing unit, integration and end-to-end software tests
