JOB TITLE: Maintenance Development Engineer

DIVISION: Swish Building Products

SITE LOCATION: Tamworth

REPORTS TO: Engineering Manager

Job Purpose:

The delivery of High-level projects and improvements to Plant and machinery to maximise plant efficiency and production Benefits. Develop and implement plant PPM schedule improvements in line with business & legislation changes, Become the standard bearer for PPM activities and repairs within the business, Coach / mentor other team members, be an advocate for Continuous Improvement methodologies and Change Management.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Planning, development and implementation of site wide projects to agreed plans and budgets.
  • Installation of new plant and equipment to all relevant standards and legislation.
  • Provide high level production support in the form of fault finding and rectification of issues.
  • Develop and implement improvements to the plant PPM schedule
  • Lead implementation of engineering Continual improvement activities across the business
  • Coordinate PPM activities and repairs
  • Identify key elements of process improvement and partner with process owners to deliver sustainable and repeatable change.
  • Develop and prepare metrics and related reports.
  • Solve complex problems using root cause analysis and coach/train others on this process
  • Become an ambassador for work standards and foster key working practices
  • Assist development team with installation of new plant and equipment to all relevant standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental and management systems/legislation.
  • Provide high level production / manufacturing support in the form of fault finding and rectification of problems and issues.
  • Provide out of hours support to key plant and operations.
  • Key Experiences and Skills Required:

  • Working Knowledge of plastics processing machinery.
  • HNC in engineering discipline or equivalent qualification / experience
  • Continual improvement / TPM knowledge desirable
  • Electrically biased with good mechanical ability.
  • Proven experience of maintaining bulk delivery systems and extrusion equipment.
  • PLC programming and fault-finding knowledge desirable.
  • Good computer skills for analysing data and creation of reports / drawings.
  • Desirables Skills, Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • Suitable qualifications in mechanical or electrical engineering.
  • Lean Six Sigma – Green Belt
  • Experience within a maintenance, process improvement or CI role previously
