Mechanical & Commercial Heating Engineer\n\n£55k per annum & travel & package \n\nLocation: West London and West End\nReports To: Estates & Facilities Manager\nSalary: £55k per annum & vehicle/car allowance, 33 days holiday plus package and overtime.\nContract: Full-time, Permanent\n\nAbout the Role\n\nMy client are seeking an experienced and proactive Mechanical & Heating Engineer to join their Estates & Facilities team. Based in the hospital's plant room, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all heating and mechanical systems critical to patient care and hospital operations.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nOperate, maintain, and repair commercial heating, ventilation, and hot water systems within the hospital plant room.\n\nCarry out routine servicing, fault diagnosis, and planned preventative maintenance on steam systems , pumps, pressurisation units, and associated mechanical equipment.\n\nRespond promptly to reactive maintenance requests and breakdowns, ensuring minimal disruption to hospital services.\n\nEnsure all works are carried out in line with statutory compliance, health & safety regulations, and hospital policies.\n\nSupport energy efficiency initiatives and identify opportunities for performance improvements within the plant.\n\nMaintain accurate maintenance records and assist with audits, inspections, and compliance reporting.\n\nCollaborate closely with other estates staff, contractors, and clinical teams to support the safe running of the hospital.\n\nQualifications & Experience\n\nTime-served apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Heating & Ventilation, or a related discipline\n\nProven experience maintaining and repairing commercial heating systems, ideally within a healthcare or similar critical environment.\n\nStrong understanding of health & safety legislation, risk assessments, and safe systems of work.\n\nGood problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and under pressure.\n\nExcellent communication and team working skills.\n\nBenefits\n\nCompetitive salary with overtime opportunities.\n\nNHS pension scheme (if applicable) or equivalent private pension.\n\nOngoing training and professional development.\n\nGenerous annual leave entitlement.\n\nOpportunity to contribute directly to the comfort and safety of patients, staff, and visitors.\n\nThis is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Engineer to work in an interesting environment with a clear career path in a sucessful and stable environment.\n\nTo apply please contact Russ Cleverley at Penguin Recruitment in CONFIDENCE
