Mechanical Design Engineer - M&E Building ServicesLocation: Wolverhampton or EdinburghEmployment Type: PermanentHours: Mon-FriSalary £50,000-£65,000Company DescriptionOperating for over 45 years, this organisation provides complete Mechanical and Electrical services across all sectors of the construction industry including Industrial, Logistics, Food, Pharmaceutical, Data Centre, Mining, Healthcare, Commercial, Hotel & Leisure, High-End Residential, Public, and Energy.From design stage to installation and ongoing maintenance of facilities, the highly skilled workforce provides clients with an efficient, reliable, and best-in-class service.A Deloitte Best Managed Company Award winner for eight years running the business prides itself on being a full building services solutions provider and has successfully delivered multiple large-scale projects in Ireland, the UK, and mainland Europe.Due to continued growth, we are now looking to hire an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer in Wolverhampton.You will be joining an experienced team in a predominantly office-based role and be responsible for developing and delivering mechanical designs to facilitate safe and compliant installations on site.What you would do:Designing in conjunction with fire strategy reports, local building regulations & planning authority requirements.Attending Design team meetings.Carrying out site surveys of existing installations where applicable.Producing heating/cooling (thermal modelling) and ventilation load calculations using industry software.Sizing and selection of AHUs, FCUs, extract fans, pumps, chillers, ASHP, boilers, plate heat exchangers etc.Producing above ground drainage calculations and sizing of drainage systems.Sizing and selection of domestic hot and cold-water equipment (heaters, storage tanks etc).Producing pipe and duct sizing calculations using industry software or other desktop spreadsheets.Sizing and selection of firefighting sprinkler and pumping systems ( but not essential).Producing stage reports & presentations.Preparing Designers Risk Assessment and Mitigation Reports.Detailing mechanical layouts & schematics for build.Meeting project delivery deadlines.Production of detailed design and survey reports.QualificationsExtensive experience in the Mechanical Engineering building services for construction.Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent.Good knowledge of CIBSE, IEC, BS, IS & EN Irish, UK standards or ASHRAE.Working knowledge of design software such as Hevacomp, Carrier HAP, CyMap, IES/TAS required.Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment.Strong communication skills.Additional InformationHaving an inclusive and flexible culture helps the business continue to grow as a strong, dynamic and innovative organisation.As well as being supported and encouraged to develop your career, we also offer the following:Competitive salaryProfessional Development supportEmployee Assistance ProgramHealth and Wellness programsBike to work scheme #J-18808-Ljbffr
