Role: Mechanical Design Engineer\n Duration: 12 months \n Location: Stevenage, SG1 2BP\nRate: Negotiable on experience\n\nInside IR35\n\nWe are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join an innovative R&D team in Stevenage on a 12-month contract. This role will focus on the design and development of advanced hardware solutions for next- bioprocessing technologies.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nLead hardware development projects, including new product features and assembly processes.\n\nProduce design specifications, drawings, prototypes, testing plans, and technical reports.\n\nCollaborate with suppliers on prototypes and pre-production builds, supporting transfer into manufacturing.\n\nConduct laboratory testing to support design validation, verification, and troubleshooting.\n\nUtilise CAD software and prototyping methods including 3D printing, CNC machining, and injection moulding.\n\nRequirements:\n\nDegree in Mechanical/Design Engineering (2:1 or above) or similar.\n\n3+ years' experience in mechanical engineering within R&D environments.\n\nStrong background in component design for processes such as machining, sheet metalwork, and injection moulding.\n\nProficiency with 3D CAD packages.\n\nPractical, hands-on approach to problem solving.\n\nMust have the right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available).\n\nThis is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the design and delivery of cutting-edge life sciences hardware
