Mechanical Design Engineer

A fast-growing engineering business is seeking a passionate and self-motivated Mechanical Engineer to join its close-knit team. The company designs and delivers complex, high-performance systems for use in advanced research and industrial environments. Its products are built to exacting standards and tailored to meet the specific needs of leading institutions and organisations worldwide.

The successful Mechanical Design Engineer candidate will be involved in the full engineering lifecycle, including:

Designing, building, and delivering bespoke systems based on customer requirements.

\n

Working across disciplines including mechanical design, thermal management, robotics, and control systems.

\n

Producing CAD models, engineering drawings, and BOMs.

\n

Liaising with suppliers on technical specifications and manufacturing processes.

\n

Supporting prototype manufacture, testing, and integration.

\n

Identifying and implementing product improvements to enhance performance, quality, and cost-effectiveness.

\n

The ideal Mechanical Design Engineer candidate will:

\n

Be proficient in mechanical CAD (SolidWorks, SolidEdge, CREO, or similar).

\n

Have experience in designing or working with pressure vessels, Ultra-High Vacuum systems, high-temperature equipment, or other complex mechanical systems.

\n

Understand design for manufacture principles.

\n

Be organised, collaborative, and able to manage projects through to completion.

\n

Possess a problem-solving mindset and strong communication skills.

\n
