WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR\n\nAs a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be involved in the design & integration of equipment at the system and sub-system levels for a range of armoured vehicles operating in the land environment.\n\nThis is a demanding role, requiring close liaison between, Mechanical Engineering Team Leaders, other Engineering teams and subsystem suppliers.\n\nSignificant drive and energy, strong systems engineering skills, and the ability to deliver a diverse programme to demanding time, target cost and quality requirements are essential attributes to succeed.\n\nThe candidate must be a team player who is prepared to work with a multi-site engineering team within RBSL and the customer community. You will form part of a multi-disciplined team providing Through Life Support to in-service platforms and carrying out engineering design work on a range of in-service armoured vehicles.\n\nPosition Duties and Responsibilities\n\nAssisting in the analysis of customer requirements and their subsequent decomposition into functional system and sub system design requirements\nWorking with Designers to create CAD design schemes, detail design and production Technical Data Packs in response to design solutions to customer requirements for military armoured vehicles\nConducting all activities in a professional manner and delivering mechanical design solutions to agreed time, cost and quality to meet project or business milestones\nConducting a wide range of activities including feasibility studies, research, design, development and post design services, involving the full Engineering Lifecycle, to meet defined project or business requirements\nEnsuring that work is undertaken in accordance with Company, Safety, Environmental, contractual and local business processes, standards, procedures and documentation\nDrafting, vetting and editing technical reports or other documents relevant to, or required by, a particular task in order to ensure that technical findings can be successfully communicated with recipients\nPreparation and submission of technical proposals and tenders as directed by bid manager in order to provide costed proposals for future work\nMaintain accurate records of all design related work in accordance with relevant extant procedures to ensure a complete design record of work undertaken\nLiaison with MOD establishments, test facilities, sub-contractors and customers as required to satisfy the needs of project or the business\nWhen appropriate, the supervision of undergraduates or persons assigned for training to assist in the development of their knowledge and skills\nPromoting the skill areas capabilities and department to attract new work\nResponding to any new requirements which management request for new work or business needWHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE\n\nDegree level of education, or an equivalent level of competence with appropriate training and significant proven engineering experience\nAchieved Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status or be working towards that objective\nCompetentence either immediately or with training and / or experience, to act as Design Authority (DA) for mechanical systems, when authorised by both Project Manager and Divisional Chief Engineer\nPractitioner in the broad discipline of mechanical engineering and its integration with others, capable of managing and supporting a design solution through the full Engineering Lifecycle\nCompetentence with Microsoft applications, CAD PLM tools such as TeamCentre and knowledge of a SAP data management tool\nProficient at using 3D CAD tools, specifically Siemens NX or equivalentWHAT WE OFFER YOU\n\nRBSL strives to be an employer of choice and to foster a culture in which our employees are supported to build a career they can be proud.\n\nThrough our contracts to deliver world-class products and support services, we offer great opportunities for personal development and career advancement via specialist technical roles, essential support functions, and broader leadership positions.\n\nIn addition, RBSL offer:\n\nCompetitive salaries reviewed each year against market rates\nAnnual bonus incentive scheme for all employees\n37 hours over 4.5 days working week\nEmployer pension contributions up to 10%\nHybrid and flexible working\nLife assurance cover\n5 weeks holiday plus bank holidays\nHoliday purchase scheme\nHealth cash plan\nSalary sacrifice benefits including cycle to work and electric vehicles schemes\nAccess to high street and gym discounts and cashback\nLong Service rewards with additional holiday\nEnhanced maternity and paternity benefits\nPrivate health care\nFree access to onsite gym\nCar allowances for eligible employees\nFree onsite car parkingCONTACT INFORMATION\n\nContact Person: Simon Fletcher\n\nADDITIONAL INFORMATION\n\nRBSL is an Equal Opportunities Employer.
