Mechanical Design Engineer, Oxford, £40,000 - £50,000pa plus 9 day fortnight and exceptional benefits. Our client is a market leader in the development of state-of-the-art scientific instrumentation. This is a permanent role with a flexible condensed 4-day week every other week.

The Role

The Mechanical Design Engineer will be highly competent and motivated, with the ability to devise competitive solutions to meet challenging equipment requirements within the scientific and research community. They will validate design proposals through rigorous analysis and effective testing.

Key Responsibilities

• Mechanical concept design of high stability systems, involving high precision movements and control feedback
• Interpret customer requirements and translate them into cost effective and elegant solutions
• Define requirements in clear terms for implementation by product design teams
• Work closely with Controls Engineers to develop precision motion controls and feedback systems
• Communicate with customers and assist in developing solutions that meet or exceed expectations
• Maintain a flexible attitude and approach to changing priorities and requirements
• Contribute to design and product review processes
• Experience dealing with bid proposals
• Provide back-up calculations and analyses for proposed design solutions

Qualifications and Requirements

• BSc or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Extensive 3D modelling and design experience
• Project Management skills – project costs, risk analysis, project planning and expediting
