A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a forward-thinking engineering team, supporting a wide range of complex projects within the automotive remanufacturing sector. This role is ideal for a creative and technically skilled individual who enjoys problem-solving and contributing to product development, reverse engineering, and production optimisation.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the creation of 3D concept designs using CAD software.
Produce detailed technical drawings for manufacture, including geometric tolerancing.
Create assembly drawings and manage Bills of Materials (BoMs).
Standardise design principles to ensure consistency and quality.
Perform basic FEA analysis to validate component suitability.
Select and maintain CAD PLM software for drawing control.
Validate designs using engineering measurement tools (e.g. vernier, micrometer, CMM).
Resolve design-related issues quickly while maintaining quality standards.
Liaise with customers to resolve technical and delivery issues.
Collaborate with applications engineers and production teams to improve efficiency and FTPR.
Work with suppliers on component design and manufacturing support.
Identify new manufacturing suppliers as needed.
Maintain product BoMs within ERP systems.Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
Minimum 5 years' experience in mechanical design using CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks, Catia).
Experience in pneumatic and hydraulic system design is desirable.
Skilled in creating 3D models, technical drawings, and assembly documentation.
Familiarity with BoM management and reverse engineering.
Knowledge of GD&T and relevant ISO standards.
Experience with CAD PLM systems and FEA analysis is advantageous.
Previous experience in a remanufacturing environment is a plus.
Proficient in using manual and electronic measurement tools.
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
