Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Bedfordshire (on-site working)

Salary: From £42-52,000 (Depending on experience)

We’re looking for a Design Engineer to join a global manufacturing site near Bedfordshire. You’ll be part of a small but highly experienced design team of three, working closely with management who provide excellent support.

This role would suit someone with a strong mechanical engineering background who enjoys problem solving, getting to the root of risks and failures, and understanding how components fit together and function in real-world applications. It’s a chance to work on interesting, complex products used across a wide range of industries.

Key responsibilities

• Designing and developing mechanical components for use in manufacturing

• Optimising designs for performance, cost, and ease of production

• Supporting prototypes, testing and investigating failures

• Producing technical documentation and providing support to wider teams

• Using tools such as FEA, SPC, FMEA and DOE to improve processes

• Collaborating with colleagues locally and internationally on projects

Key skills

• HNC/HND or degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar)

• Strong design experience in a manufacturing setting

• Proficient in CAD (Creo preferred, but others considered)

• A practical, hands-on approach with strong problem-solving skills

• Background in mechanical design is highly desirable
