Mechanical Design / Electromechanical Engineer – South Manchester / Cheshire
Salary: £30,000–£35,000 (depending on experience)
An established special-purpose machinery manufacturer in South Manchester is looking to add a practical, detail-focused Mechanical Design / Electromechanical Engineer to its close-knit team.
The business designs and builds bespoke automated and electromechanical systems for industrial applications, known for quality engineering and long-term customer relationships. You’ll be joining a small, friendly team with strong in-house manufacturing capability and direct collaboration between design, build and service teams.
The role You’ll work on day-to-day design modifications, customer-specific customisation, and product improvement projects — producing accurate drawings, BOMs and documentation while supporting the shop floor to ensure smooth build and assembly. There’s also scope to contribute to R&D and process improvement initiatives, giving excellent learning opportunities and variety.
What you’ll bring

2–3 years’ experience in mechanical design or electromechanical machinery (automation, process equipment or similar).

Proficiency in 3D CAD – SolidWorks preferred.
*
HNC/HND or apprenticeship route, degree not essential.
*
Hands-on approach, curiosity, and solid attention to detail.
