About the role\nA UK-based manufacturer is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its technical design team. This role involves delivering system designs tailored to customer requirements and aligned with current legislation. The position offers exposure to a range of projects across engineering, commercial applications, and low-carbon technologies.\n\nRole Overview\n\nYou'll work closely with internal sales teams and external clients to develop bespoke system designs from concept through to delivery.

The role requires strong technical competence, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects within defined service-level timelines. While experience in residential heating is beneficial, candidates from broader Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Building Services, or Energy Systems backgrounds are encouraged to apply.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nDevelop system designs to meet customer and project-specific requirements.\nRespond to technical enquiries and provide tailored solutions across a range of applications.\nDeliver design documentation and revisions in line with departmental SLAs.\nSupport handover processes with performance data and technical documentation.\nMaintain accurate records and document control using Excel and other tools.\nStay informed on UK and Ireland legislation and emerging technologies in the heating and energy sector.\nCreate and maintain BIM models to support the product portfolio.Candidate Profile\n\nHNC or higher qualification in Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.\nProficiency in CAD Design software \nEffective communicator with the ability to engage stakeholders across technical and commercial functions.\nHighly numerate with strong data analysis and documentation skills.\nCollaborative working style with a focus on delivering high-quality outcomes.Benefits\n\nCompetitive salary of up to £55,000 per annum & bonus\nExcellent holidays with the option to buy an additional 10\nEarly finishes on Fridays.\nStaff discounts and additional benefitsIf you have a background in Mechanical Design and are looking to apply your skills in a growing and innovative environment, we'd like to hear from you.\n\nHays Specialist Recruitment Limited acts as an employment agency for permanent recruitment and employment business for the supply of temporary workers.
