We’re hiring for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a well-established design and manufacturing business based in Stockport.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll lead specialist design projects from concept through to completion, managing a small team and supporting projects right through manufacturing and installation.

What will you be doing as a Mechanical Design Engineer?

* Leading customer-specific and mission-critical design projects

* Managing and reviewing the work of mechanical designers

* Running design meetings and ensuring effective communication

* Producing detailed designs using SolidWorks 3D CAD & PDM Vaults

* Designing mechanical parts, pipework, assemblies and enclosures

* Supporting projects through procurement, installation and commissioning

* Problem-solving and resolving design challenges

* Preparing operation and maintenance manuals

* Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives

What do you need?

* Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering (BEng/MEng)

* Strong experience with SolidWorks 3D CAD and PDM Vaults

* Detailed knowledge of mechanical systems, pneumatics, motion types, bearings, and fabrication processes

* Ability to assess feasibility of design options and deliver on time/budget

* Experience leading design projects and supporting commissioning
