Why Rolls-Royce?

Rolls-Royce is one of the most enduring and iconic brands in the world and has been at the forefront of innovation for over a century. We design, build, and service systems that provide critical power to customers where safety and reliability are paramount.

We are proud to be a force for progress, powering, protecting, and connecting people everywhere. We want to ensure that the excellence and ingenuity that has shaped our history continues into our future, and we need people like you to come and join us on this journey.

We’ll provide an environment of caring and belonging where you can be yourself. An inclusive, innovative culture that invests in you, gives you access to an incredible breadth and depth of opportunities where you can grow your career and make a difference.

What we offer

We offer excellent development opportunities, a competitive salary, and exceptional benefits. These include bonus, employee support assistance, and employee discounts.

Your needs are as unique as you are. Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home, or another remote location. It’s a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement. As a minimum we’re all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week or as needed to support facility operational demands

What you will be doing

To support the once in a lifetime major infrastructure programme underway on our Raynesway site, you would be part of the multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for the continued design support and improvements to our legacy facilities.

For you, this means opportunities to shape the future of the Submarines business, through the design, commissioning and life-extension of critical nuclear facilities required to manufacture our key products. Given the complexity of the projects you’d be responsible for, this is a fantastic opportunity to work across multiple disciplines to understand the full design and through-life requirements of our unique facilities.

We are looking for a mechanical engineer to join our team and be responsible for the successful delivery of nuclear facility technical design and substantiation projects. You will be working across multiple disciplines and facility lifecycle stages (ie concept to disposal) to ensure that the areas under your responsibility meet both our engineering and project requirements. You will need to be able to interact with numerous stakeholders both internal and external to the business to be successful.

With this exciting opportunity you will get a chance to:

Who we’re looking for:

Although experience of working with nuclear facilities is certainly advantageous, we invite applications from those that are interested in redeploying their existing capabilities in a new area. What is most important is having the right approach; you need to be someone who gathers all the required expertise and stakeholders together and can understand and organise a variety of technical information to deliver the right solution at the right time.

At Rolls-Royce we embrace agility, being bold, pursue collaboration, and seek simplicity in everything we do. These principles form our values and behaviours and are an essential component of our assessment process and are fundamental qualities that we seek for all roles.

The engineer shall exhibit strong technical knowledge in mechanical design methodologies and the ability to integrate cross-discipline engineering concepts, which include manufacturing engineering, service engineering, hydrodynamics, thermodynamics, stress analysis (both static and dynamic), fracture and fatigue assessment, mechanical technology, cost engineering, product definition etc.

Qualities that we seek,

We are an equal opportunities employer. We’re committed to developing a diverse workforce and an inclusive working environment. We believe that people from different backgrounds and cultures give us different perspectives which are crucial to innovation and problem solving. We believe the more diverse perspectives we have, the more successful we’ll be. By building a culture of caring and belonging, we give everyone who works here the opportunity to realise their full potential.
