Mechanical Engineer (Full-Time Role) - Surrey
What the Job Entails:
You'll be looking after the mechanical systems across our sites, handling everything from planned maintenance schedules to urgent breakdowns. This includes installing new equipment when needed and keeping existing systems running smoothly.
A big part of your work involves servicing air handling units, fan coil units, and other mechanical equipment. You'll get hands-on with pump maintenance - changing seals, replacing bearings, and making sure everything's properly aligned.
Being part of the maintenance team's on-call roster comes with the territory, so you'll need to be available for emergency callouts. You'll need to juggle different priorities and decide what needs attention first based on how it affects the business.
When things go wrong, you'll be the one figuring out what's broken and getting it fixed. You'll also supervise external contractors when they're working on site, making sure they meet our standards.
The team will look to you for technical expertise when tricky problems come up with building equipment and plant machinery. Management may ask you to take on other duties that match your engineering background.
What You'll Need:
An engineering or technical qualification is essential - this could be through an apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 in mechanical engineering, plumbing, or HVAC.
You should have solid experience working with building services and mechanical maintenance, particularly with pump seals, bearings, and alignment work. Being able to write clear reports and job sheets, whether on paper or computer systems, is important.
Having some knowledge of other building services like building management systems and electrical work will be a real advantage.
You'll need a full, clean driving licence since you'll be moving between different locations
