Mechanical Maintenance Engineer - Back Shift
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our clients dedicated engineering team. This role offers long-term stability within a well-established and forward-looking business that is currently investing in significant machinery and systems upgrades.
Key Details:
Salary: £47,400 per annum (inclusive of allowances)
Hours: 4 x 10-hour shifts per week, Monday to Thursday, 11:20 - 21:50
Christmas Shutdown: Every year, with annual leave days protectedThe Role
Perform proactive and reactive maintenance to minimise downtime.
Support production teams by addressing breakdowns quickly and effectively.
Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical engineering issues.
Work safely, both independently and as part of a team.
Maintain a high standard of housekeeping and safety at all times.What We're Looking For
A time-served apprenticeship (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline.
Experience with heavy industrial machinery in a fast-paced production environment.
Good physical fitness due to the manual aspects of the role.
Strong literacy, numeracy, and communication skills.
Knowledge of conveyors, gearboxes, motors, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical drive systems.
Multiskilled capability across mechanical and electrical disciplines (highly desirable).
Familiarity with PLCs, controls, and drives (advantageous).
Ability to interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic drawings.
Previous sawmilling experience (very desirable).Benefits

Paid overtime at enhanced rates.

Two-week July maintenance shutdown (all engineering staff required to work day shift with overtime during this period; no annual leave permitted).
