Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

Location: London

Hours: Full-time, 40 hrs/week (split days) or 42 hrs/week (rotating night shifts, 4 on/4 off)

We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a leading London-based higher education institution. In this hands-on role, you will maintain, inspect, and operate mechanical building services across academic and residential sites, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out planned, reactive, and corrective maintenance of mechanical systems including ventilation, AHUs, FCUs, chilled water systems, heating, boilers, pumps, and general plumbing.
• Support electrical maintenance as required and assist with general fabric works when needed.
• Work with contractors and internal teams to ensure compliance with statutory regulations, health & safety, and best industry practice (SFG20).
• Participate in emergency response, audits, and resilience activities.
• Maintain accurate asset records, SOPs, and EOPs.

Essential Requirements:

• City & Guilds Level 3 in Mechanical Installations/Maintenance or equivalent apprenticeship.
• Strong experience in mechanical maintenance of building services.
• Knowledge of health & safety and statutory compliance.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and IT skills.
