Job Title: Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical)
Location: East Peckham, Tonbridge
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: 40 hours per week
Shifts: Monday to Friday – 6:00 am–2:00 pm and 2:00 pm–10:00 pm (rotating weekly)
Salary: £32,432 base + £1,200 shift allowance
Job Description:
A leading manufacturing business based near Tonbridge is looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join their team. Working across a busy production environment, you’ll be responsible for planned and reactive maintenance to ensure equipment runs reliably and safely. This is a great opportunity for a skilled engineer looking for a long-term, stable position with a strong sense of teamwork and ownership.
What We’re Looking For:

Recognised qualifications in mechanical or general engineering
*
Broad-based engineering skills including:
*
Welding (MIG/MMA)
*
Machining and fabrication
*
Sheet metal work
*
General fault finding and breakdown repairs
*
Experience with:
*
Hydraulics, pneumatics
*
Pumps, fans, and mechanical drive systems
*
Own transport is required due to limited public transport access to the site
Key Responsibilities:
*
Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance on production equipment
*
Minimise downtime by quickly responding to equipment faults and breakdowns
*
Support and deliver continuous improvement projects across the site
*
Implement equipment modifications and assist in machinery installations and refurbishments
*
Ensure all work is completed in line with health and safety procedures
*
Maintain documentation of maintenance and repair tasks
*
Collaborate with the wider engineering team to enhance overall plant performance
This is a hands-on role ideal for a mechanically-biased engineer who enjoys problem-solving, variety, and working in a supportive, collaborative environment
