Project Engineer – M&E Preconstruction & Delivery Kent or Bedfordshire Office | £65,000 – £70,000 per annum Full-time, Permanent

An opportunity has arisen for a capable and detail-driven Project Engineer to support the design coordination, procurement, and technical preparation of high-quality building services projects. Working alongside the Project and Contracts Managers, you will play a critical role in ensuring a smooth transition from tender to site mobilisation, with full involvement in design reviews, procurement planning, and CDP delivery.
This is a key role within a growing building services contractor known for executing technically complex projects across commercial, residential, and healthcare sectors. Key responsibilities
*
Carry out design surveys and coordinate detailed information for internal and external design teams
*
Review tender packages with focus on technical compliance, programme, and design risk
*
Coordinate and lead design Q&A sessions with clients and the project delivery team
*
Submit and manage RFIs, resolving technical queries promptly and accurately
*
Draft procurement documentation and compile technical submittals
*
Assist with labour and material take-offs, programme development, and key risk identification
*
Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure plant, materials and subcontractor packages are in place before mobilisation
*
Prepare and issue detailed site instructions, including programme and commercial impacts
*
Review and approve commissioning documentation for compliance with design and specification
*
Take ownership of project-specific CDP items and support design resolution throughout delivery
*
Produce high-quality O&M manuals and contribute to project handover documentation
What we’re looking for
*
HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
*
Experience in a project engineering, technical coordination, or preconstruction role within the M&E sector
*
Strong knowledge of British Standards and technical building services principles
*
Effective communicator with the ability to liaise confidently across internal departments and external stakeholders
*
Strong attention to detail, good organisational habits, and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
*
Understanding of health and safety standards and site requirements
*
Full UK driving licence

Salary: £65,000 – £70,000 depending on experience
